Bethel Neighborhood Center
Bethel Neighborhood Center opened its doors on April 1, 1911 to serve immigrants from Eastern European countries that were living in the most impoverished part of Kansas City called the "West Bottoms." The neighborhood has gone through many changes over the last 100 years but their mission "To offer a renewed sense of hope" remains the same. Bethel is a safe and fun place for all ages to find a friendly smile, a helping hand, and the freedom to explore what God has in store for them. Bethel is committed to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in their community.
Opportunity is open to youth and adult volunteers. Volunteers will work on a variety of projects including clean-up, landscaping and assisting with Bethel’s Summer Youth Program. Maximum number of volunteers is 25 for each day.
Prairie Global Mission Residence, Prairie Baptist Churches
Prairie Baptist Church is building a residence where international students attending Central Baptist Theological Seminary or visiting missionaries could find respite.
Ten (10) volunteers are needed daily to assist with completing the residence. Volunteers must be over 13 years old.
On-Site Mission Opportunity during Mission Summit/Biennial
In addition to the above opportunities, Mission Summit/Biennial participants will also have the opportunity to write a letter of encouragement or create a card (get well, thinking of you, encouragement). These letters and cards will be distributed to service personnel serving overseas and to persons here in the United States who may be incarcerated or recuperating in hospitals or nursing homes.
